Our area is becoming more touristy and affordable housing is becoming less available as a result. Right now, I can only afford to rent here at the park.

My name is Tiona DeShong and I live in Rapid Estates MHP in Lockport, NY. My family and I were living in a home when our landlord tried to evict us in the middle of the pandemic.

My name is Samantha Tedesco. My family and I moved into our community in February of 2019. Our youngest son was diagnosed with a gross motor deficit in March of 2020. He has to be closely monitored at all times. Cook Properties does not allow us to put any toys outside for him to play with and there are no public play areas for kids in the park.

Hello, my name is Michael Papa. I live in The Woodlands in Lockport, NY, which is owned by Equity Lifestyle Properties. I purchased my home in August 2019. What once seemed like an affordable place to live has gotten unaffordable.

My name is Jill Roberts. I own a home in Ridgeview Manufactured Home Community in Lockport, NY. With the previous owners, there were full time office hours and on-site maintenance. Now, under Cook Properties, the property manager is based over an hour away and is rarely here. There is no office, and maintenance is sparse. There is little to no communication from Cook to Ridgeview.

My name is Jeanne Spontak, and I’m from Candlestick Mobile Home Park in Newburgh, New York. I bought my home in March 2019, just months after Lakeshore purchased the property.

I moved to my home in Akron, NY, in 2017 with my grandson, who had lost both of his parents (my daughter) to a car accident. We moved here because my son lives in Akron with his wife and son and I wanted to make my family whole once again.

My name is Cindy Hoage, and I live in Galvin’s Mobile Home Park in Ontario, NY. KDM Management has been the owner as long as I’ve lived here. Before they bought us out, the previous owners paid for water and worked with residents if we were behind on rent that month. None of that happens anymore.

Lawmakers need to know what life is like living in a manufactured home community. We are owned by a predatory Corporation, RHP Properties. When they bought our community at the end of 2017, that’s when we started to see outrageous lot rent increases, poor maintenance, no respect for tenants, and poor maintenance, including people not being able to leave their homes because of snow not being plowed.

My name is Candi Van Tassel, and I live in Huguenot Estates, a manufactured home community owned by RHP Properties. I moved here because I thought it would be more affordable. I was previously living in NJ and had a house which I was struggling to pay for as a single mother.

Out of the blue, one day in September of 2018, Lakeshore Management went door to door announcing that THEY were the new owners of the park, hastening us to a community meeting they used as an opportunity to criticize, chastise, and intimidate us, and establish their dominion.
