Melissa Sherer
My name is Melissa Sherer, and I cook in a local nursing home. I love adding something to the meals and baking them special desserts, like the scratch-made chocolate cake I made last week. I have lived in Hillcrest with my three kids for almost a year, after living in another RHP property, Colonial Manor for five years.
That place was sketchy, but I thought it was just the manager, not the company. If I was late with rent, I wouldn’t get any papers, but they would charge me legal fees even though we never went to court. They tried to tell me they never received a $1000 money order I gave them. They sold a junker to us. The furnace worked, but all of the ducts and vents were disconnected and broken. The house had a broken shed full of junk when we moved in, and they immediately started writing me up for not emptying it and tearing it down!
My mom helped us buy a home in Hillcrest, and I thought it would be better here, but it is actually worse. The water bill is over $100 a month. They keep turning it off without notice, and then, as my daughter put it, “What comes out looks like urine.”
The manager here is on us every week hitting us with violations. They said I parked on the grass, when I was clearly in the driveway. They wrote me up for the planter with a cactus on my porch and because I had broken blinds in one window. Even when I took a rest from raking leaves, they wrote me up for having a rake leaned against the house.
I get written up for everything because I speak my mind. But I’m not stopping. The last time I was in the office, the manager was swearing at me, pointing her finger in my face and yelling “You should never have been allowed to move in!” These kind of people shouldn’t be allowed to run mobile home parks.
