Edward Seppala

My name is Edward Seppala, and I live in Sand & Sea Village. I have been living here since September of 2015. I chose this community because I couldn’t afford anything else. I bought my mobile home directly from Quality Homes, which is the corporate owner of the park.

Edward is sat on a leather armchair. He is holding a thermos and has a mobility aid leaning on his leg.

For months, while I was in the hospital for a broken pelvis, I received harassing messages from management. The first complaint I received was regarding my stepson living on the property. They informed me that he was denied residency from an application that was submitted in 2017. My stepson Chris is my caretaker, and he is the only reason I was released from the physical therapy rehabilitation center.

In May of 2022, Sand & Sea stopped accepting my lot rent payments. I was also locked out of the online portal that we use to pay our rent. At first, I thought this was a mistake, so I took out money orders for my rent and went to the front office to pay it. The front office refused to take my money order and told me to “save my money.”

I was threatened with an eviction notice for lack of payment. I don’t see how I can be evicted from a home that I own outright when they refused to take my lot rent. They continue to give me citations for things that I cannot possibly address all at once as someone who is on a fixed income and who is disabled.

My stepson helps me as much as he can, but it's difficult when they give me so many citations that we can’t afford. Sand & Sea has shown a pattern of sending residents citations for very small things and then evicting them from their homes. I’m afraid that I’m next.
