MHAction works with a diverse group of people. In Montana alone there are 7 federally recognized tribes living on 7 reservations. These tribes are the original inhabitants of North America as we know it today. Tribes represent 6.5% or 78,000 of Montana's population and we at MHAction work to document any housing issues their people may have. Many tribal people move to local towns and cities in Montana for work or secondary education.

Many times, Indigenous people purchase manufactured homes (the only affordable homes) and move into manufactured home parks or rent homes in these parks. MHAction seeks to advocate for this population of people if they are being subjected to housing discrimination or other issues by new predatory land speculators who have purchased manufactured home parks that used to be owned and managed by the old mom-and-pop owners. If you are an American Indian or a descendant of a tribe please contact our Indigenous Peoples Advocacy Director to report any issues you are having.

Wesley Edmo MSW (Shoshone-Bannock) is the Indigenous Peoples Advocacy Director for MHAction. His contact email is wedmo@mhaction.org and his phone number is (208)530-1168. Understand that any tribal people from other states can contact as well.
