Jean Hansen
My name is Jean Hansen from Billings, MT. I moved to Golden Meadows Mobile Home Park 17 years ago last May. At the time, I was recently divorced and was able to buy my home at a reasonable price. I fell in love with the porch and wanted to make this my forever home.
A few years ago, the owners sold to Havenpark, a huge out-of-state company from Utah. Since then, the lot rents have gotten out of control. A lot of us are on social security and we can’t afford these increases. Over 50% of my social security is taken straight from my checking account every month. And even with social security going up, it’s just going to go straight into Havenpark’s pockets when they raise the rent again next year. They installed water meters and charge for garbage and sewer too. They don’t give us any justification either.
I get along well with my neighbors and it’s sad because there’s been a lot of turnover here because of all the rent increases. If nothing changes, I may be forced to move, but I don’t even know where I’ll be able to go. They need to be nice to residents, quit raising rents, and stop pocketing our money without increasing amenities or making any improvements. We’re already paying way too much!
