I have been a resident of Lawndale Estates for 23 years. We are owned by Yes Communities, which is owned by investors in Singapore. Whenever I try to call the office, nobody answers.

The company extorts money from us - charging excessive fees for just about everything. If you don’t have your lawn mowed each week they will “force mow” and charge you. There is a time limit, so they will sit outside your house and wait for the time limit to expire, then jump out of their cars, mow your lawn and send you a bill! They charge you to process your rent if you pay by check. And they charge you to mail your water bill! New residents talk about getting charged for credit checks.

We get absolutely nothing for this money we pay every month. There is no security, only two old metal swings and a slide on the playground, and a pool that closes without notice. If a tree falls, you are responsible for cleaning it up.

Some of my neighbors are disabled and very elderly. It is hard for them to get around. My neighbor has cracks in her driveway that she has been trying to get fixed for two years. When I tried to complain, the manager threw me out of the office! But where am I going to go? I can’t pick up my trailer and move it. These people certainly don’t care about older people, but I am not afraid to stick up for myself.
