Today, MHAction and Human Impact Partners released a report, “Our Homes, Our Health: Ensuring Climate and Housing Justice for Florida’s Manufactured Home Communities”, that details the negative health impacts that Florida’s manufactured home residents face because of intersecting threats: increasing climate disasters, inadequate disaster recovery programs, and predatory community owner practices.
Residents have waited two years for recovery assistance after Hurricane Irma and many are facing confusion and road blocks to recovery from corporate community owners. Inadequate housing protections for manufactured homeowners worsen their housing security and health. Residents are calling on manufactured home community owners and Governor DeSantis to heed the urgency of their stories and the stress they are under and take action to address residents’ hurricane recovery needs.
