Tell Congress to stop paying for corporate tax cuts with our healthcare, social security and other vital programs
Manufactured homeowners are coming together to protect vulnerable members of our communities and ensure all of our families have healthcare, food and a safe place to live. As members of communities made up of retirees and hard working families, we’ve seen our neighbors struggle as lot rents continue to rise, living expenses increase and healthcare costs skyrocket, while wages and social security benefits stay the same.
It’s unacceptable that less than a year after passing tax legislation that gave huge tax cuts to corporations and billionaires, our members of Congress are now claiming there isn’t enough money to pay for vital social support programs like Medicaid and Social Security. If we can afford tax cuts for the wealthiest, we can definitely afford to keep the most vulnerable members of our community from destitution.
Congress shouldn’t be trying to balance the budget and “fix” our healthcare by cutting vital programs, like Social Security Disability, Medicaid, SNAP, and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). These programs serve the most vulnerable members of our community and act as a form of insurance if we hit a turn of bad luck. HUD provides vital services to manufactured housing, most importantly ensuring our housing meets safety standards, funding vital infrastructure in rural communities, and providing subsidies so that low-income seniors and working families don’t end up on the street.
Use the form below to make your voice heard by writing a letter to your members of Congress to make sure they know you value the health and well being of your neighbors more than insurance company profits, corporate giveaways, and tax breaks for the wealthy. We deserve a budget that reflects these values.
