Dear Corporate Investors: Our communities are priceless
Our manufactured home communities are so much more than profits in someone’s pocket. Our homes hold our loved ones at night. Pictures of those that have come before us or are still with us are on the walls. They hold people who look out for their neighbors. People like Linda who cares for struggling families by dropping off extra food, people like 90-year old Helen who helps her neighbors with their taxes, or Richard, who despite a severe back injury, shovels snow for his elderly neighbors.
Our communities are much more than buildings, roads and community centers. They are living entities fed by the relationships between us and the work we all contribute. They are a part of us, and we are a part of them.
Unfortunately, the greedy corporations that are buying our communities don’t see it that way. They only see money. Corporations like RV Horizons, Sunrise Capital Investors, and BoaVida Communities don’t understand that we are more than our monthly rent payments. Their push for profits at all costs is displacing our neighbors and slowly killing our communities. If they can’t understand the true value of our communities and the horrendous impacts of their actions, they shouldn’t be in this business.
Manufactured homeowners across the country are coming together to call for an end to the profit at all costs, predatory practices of corporate community owners. Join us in writing emails to the CEO’s of these corporations asking that they offer residents and non-profit operators the option to buy the communities they own.
